Four people were treated for injuries after an ambulance flipped on its side outside Medway Maritime Hospital.

The ambulance turned over near the Marlbrough Road entrance to the estate on Tuesday afternoon, and had at one stage caused some queues in the area.

An ambulance spokeswoman confirmed an ambulance had been involved in a crash while carrying a patient.

The crew members, patient and relative accompanying the patient were all taken to A&E.

Speaking on Wednesday, (June 19), Janine Compton from SECAmb said: "Both crew members were discharged last night, and the relative only suffered minor injuries luckily."

The patient remains in hospital for unrelated issues.

It was also confirmed that a full investigation would be carried out into the circumstances of the incident.

Medway NHS Foundation Trust chief executive James Devine said: “We can confirm that an RTC involving a SECAmb ambulance occurred on site this afternoon.

"Paramedics from SECAmb and hospital staff responded promptly and all occupants of the ambulance were transferred to our Emergency Department for treatment.
