As the aircraft landed on the park, ambulance crews were also spotted in the marina.

Four police cars and four incident response ambulances were also seen going into the site.

People living nearby said they heard the emergency services had been called to a boating incident on the River Medway.

Angus Dainty who lives in the marina added: "It was a boat collision on the River Medway with two boats one with members of the marina in it which was struck by another faster moving boat."

One Borstal man, 54, who didn't want to be named said: "I could hear lots of sirens and then the helicopter flew over very low and landed on the field.

"I am not sure if something has happened on the river."

The helicopter later took off from the field at 6.10pm and it is understood an older woman was taken to hospital.

Several other emergency vehicles left the marina shortly afterwards. One police car was seen still at the site at 6.40pm.

Kent Police and the ambulance service has been contacted for a comment.
