The anxious wait is almost over for thousands of Medway school pupils who receive their A-level results tomorrow.

About 5,000 teenagers will be ripping open their envelopes to see if they got the grades they need for university.

Next Thursday, pupils will be picking up their GCSE results.

Results in Medway have continued to improve for the past six years, with 77% of students achieving five A* to C grades in GCSEs last year.

But for those whose results are not as good as predicted, the message is not to panic.

Parents and students can phone the freephone results helpline on 0800 046 7603 from Thursday, August 18 to Saturday, September 10.

Alternatively, phone the Medway Youth Trust's Connexions personal advisers on 01634 334 343.

Students are also urged to contact admissions teams at colleges and universities if their results do not meet their expectations.
