Fire crews trying to control 100 tonnes of hay on fire in New Court Road, Burham

Fire crews are dealing with 100 tonnes of hay bales that have caught alight.

The crop in New Court Road, Burham set on fire at around 2pm today (Friday). .

One engine was at the scene and the fire was monitored by a part-time fire crew.

The team said the blaze was far from any road or properties so it was being left to burn under controlled conditions.

The cause is not known at this stage.

In an update on Saturday, fire crews said they checked the fire last night and another engine would head out this morning to monitor the situation.
