An elderly man living in sheltered accommodation had £200 stolen from his wallet which he had left in his flat.

The burglary happened at the mhs homes complex in Leander Road, Rochester, between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Sunday, May 17.

The 89-year-old is thought to have been in a bathroom when someone, thought to be a woman, gained access to the entrance of the building and walked into his flat and took the money.

Neighbourhood officers have also visited and offered crime prevention advice to residents.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "Residents of shared accommodation are being reminded to keep their personal belongings secure at all times and to lock their rooms when they are not in them."

Further crime prevention advice can also be found on the Kent Police website.
