Malling: Travellers near Aylesford Station told to move on

A group of travellers who have settled in a car park in Station Road, Aylesford have moved on after being served with an order by council officials.

A Tonbridge and Malling council spokesman said: "On Friday, the council obtained an Order under section 78 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 requiring the removal from the land at Station Road, Aylesford of any vehicle and property and any person residing in it, and authorising the council to enter the land and remove those vehicles and property.

"The order was served on Friday and the occupants of the land required to leave forthwith."

The travellers had set up camp on a piece of land next to the Station Road car park on approach to the bridge.

The group have since left the site.
