English Heritage-style blue plaque goes up in Leybourne to ‘honour’ abandoned car

A prankster has installed a blue plaque at the spot where a car was left dumped for several months.

For the past two months, an abandoned and vandalised BMW has been the subject of much angry debate on the Leybourne Village Facebook page.

It had been left in Oxley Shaw Lane, close to the entrance to Leybourne Primary School, with police tape draped over it.

As well as being an eyesore, the vehicle was occupying a valued parking space at school drop-off and pick-up times.

The vehicle was finally towed away on Thursday of last week, only to be replaced the next day by a tongue-in-cheek sign, in the style of English Heritage’s blue plaque scheme, commemorating its presence.

The prankster has not been identified.
