Complaints about chicken nuggets at McDonald's

McDonald's has pledged a full investigation after a mum found mould on her toddler's chicken nuggets.

Melanie Luck bought three-year-old son Harvey Stott a happy meal from the fast food outlet's Aylesford branch last Friday.

But when she returned home to eat, she discovered green dots lining the chicken's batter.

The Larkfield mother-of-two said: "It was a little too late at that point as my son had eaten one already but the remaining three were covered in the green mould. Disgusting."

Miss Luck was left "praying my son didn't get sick" after the incident and warned others not to visit the restaurant in Hermitage Lane.

She said: "I contacted McDonald’s and all they could say was sorry and that they’re doing a full investigation.

"I highly doubt that will lead to much, I’ve been sick from McDonald’s previously and they usually just say sorry and send a £10 voucher to have a meal on them. No thank you, not again.

"At the end of the day, this shouldn’t be happening. Even if it is 'just the once' or 'very rare', one time is too many times."

Miss Luck has referred the case to environmental health and McDonald's customer helpline, but stopped short of returning the nuggets to the restaurant.

She said: "I decided against taking the nuggets to the store.

"I’d had a problem with food in the past at this store, they took it off of me and binned it right in front of my eyes. I didn’t want to take the nuggets to them for me to be fobbed off and for them to just bin the nuggets and destroy our evidence."

A McDonald's spokesman said: "Food quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us.

"We place great emphasis on quality control and follow rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections.

"Our customer services team will be in touch with the customer involved as part of our investigation into this incident."

So far McDonald's has not issued a response to Miss Luck's complaint.
