Man taken to hospital after crash between car and motorbike on A228 near East Peckham

A man was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and a motorbike – and police say they are looking for the driver of the car.

Officers were called just after 3.40pm to the A228 southbound bypass near East Peckham.

Police and paramedics attended the scene where the motorist had left before they arrived.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "The motorcyclist was treated for injuries that are not described as life threatening and has been taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.

"Inquiries are under way to locate the driver of the car."

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman added: "One ambulance crew has attended the scene.

"The motorcyclist was assessed and treated before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital for further treatment."

Drivers faced delays between Maidstone Road and Branbridges Road as the carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The road has since reopened.
