Malling: Larkfield residents get crafty for the All Counties Challenge to raise money for Mind

Peace, happiness, and mindfulness were all on the agenda at a recent craft event raising money for Mind, a mental health charity.

40 people attended the event at Church Farm Hall, Larkfield, on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29.

Each person designed a number of chipboard hearts stamped or stencilled with inspirational messages, and decorated them with ribbons and paper embellishments.

The days were organised by John Bloodworth, originally from Stamford, Lincolnshire, who is travelling the country in his motorhome, Maisy, and holding various craft workshops on his travels.

Speaking about the event, the 42-year-old said: “It was a pleasure to see everyone getting stuck in and to see all of the different styles that came through in the creations.”

“Thank you to all of those that chose to come and support this challenge. Also for sharing their stories and experiences of mental health difficulties and how they’ve overcome some very difficult situations. It has been very uplifting to share, I really appreciate that,” he said.

Their All Counties Challenge sees John and Maisy trying to raise £20,000 by visiting all 92 historic counties in a year. He started his challenge in April 2016 and has so far raised £1,800 towards his total.
