Maidstone v AFC Hornchurch

Maidstone United take on AFC Hornchurch in the FA Trophy first Qualifying Round on Saturday looking to get straight back on the winning trail after their 3-1 Ryman League defeat to Horsham on Wednesday.

Hornchurch fared better in midweek, beating Tonbridge Angels 3-0, and Stones joint-manager Alan Walker knows exactly what to expect come the weekend.

“Saturday is a big game for us,” he said. “We need to rebound from our poor display at Horsham. If our attitude is right then I think we can do that.

“We know the game is going to be a tough one. They will be confident after their big win in the week, although from what my scouting reports tell me, the score line flattered Hornchurch somewhat and didn’t tell the entire story."

Walker expects influential midfielder Jay Saunders to be back for the game, following the birth of his third child on Monday evening. Kevin Watson should also feature again after he came through the Horsham game unscathed.

Ian Selley is set to miss out with an achilles injury, however, and Meshach Nugent is also a doubt due to a hamstring problem.
