Stones fight back to snatch a point

Maidstone 2 Wealdstone 2

Maidstone came from two goals down with 20 minutes left to grab a draw against Wealdstone in the Ryman League Premier Division at Bourne Park on Saturday.

Both of the visitors' goals came from the penalty spot.

First, Stephen Hughes sent Steve Northwood the wrong way from 12 yards after a foul by Mark Clarey in the 24th minute.

Then, on 68 minutes, Hughes produced a carbon copy spot-kick after a Mark Saunders trip.

United introduced Mo Takaloo from the bench and the striker had an immediate impact in the 73rd minute when he lobbed home after a through ball by Nathan Paul.

And the comeback was complete three minute from time when Wealdstone keeper Keita Karamoko produced a fantastic save to deny Takaloo but Saunders made amends for his earlier foul to head home the rebound from close range.
