Star-studded Lashings chase Klusener

THE Maidstone-based cricket club Lashings have approached South African big-hitter Lance Klusener in a bid to persuade him to play for them this summer.

Lashings' chief executive David Folb said Klusener, known as Zulu, would prove a big crowd puller if he could persuade him to play for the all-star side.

Klusener was dropped from the South African team last month. If the batsman with a reputation of being a vicious clubber of the ball comes to Kent, he will join ‘King of the Jungle’ Phil Tufnell, Zimbabwean rebel Henry Olonga and stylish Australian batsman Mark Waugh.

Tufnell is due to make his debut on June 24 at Maidstone’s Mote Park when Lashings take on Cambride University.
