Former Crystal Palace and Norwich City player Michee Efete joins Maidstone United

Maidstone have completed a deal for defender Michee Efete.

The 21-year-old has been on trial with the Stones following his release from Norwich City.

Efete, who played 26 times for Torquay in the National League last season, has agreed a one-year deal at the Gallagher.

The player, who was at Crystal Palace as a youngster and had a spell playing in Iceland, appeared for the Stones last week in their friendly match against Billericay Town.

Saunders has also recently been watching another former Norwich player, young keeper Jake Hallett.

Following the signing, Saunders, speaking to the club's official website, said: "He has got good experience in this league and he came in and did really well in pre-season. I wanted competition in that area and he is a really good, strong addition to the squad."

Saunders revealed that he was offered Efete on loan last season but already had sufficient cover.

The new signing said: "I have enjoyed it here, I am happy to be here.

"Last season was quite different playing in the league (for Torquay) from under-23s (at Norwich) and hopefully I can take that experience into this season."
