Maidstone’s long wait for a National League win goes on after losing at Solihull Moors.

Jamey Osborne broke the deadlock just before the break and Joe Sbarra made sure of the points in the second half.

Bottom side Maidstone are now 15 games without a win, a run stretching back to the end of November.

Caretaker boss George Elokobi gave a debut to left-back Kevin Berkoe following his loan move from Salford yesterday.

He replaced Tushaun Walters in the only change from the side who drew 1-1 with Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

Solihull, five games without a win, edged a quiet first half but were restricted to little in the way of chances by the Stones defence.

Maidstone struggled to create much going the other way, a couple of efforts from outside the box from Roarie Deacon and Berkoe the sum of their efforts, although they enjoyed more possession in Moors territory as the half wore on.

Solihull had an early penalty appeal waved away after Andrew Dallas went down under challenge from Mamadou Jobe.

Dan Barden went on to make a comfortable save at his near post after Sbarra laid the ball back to Dallas, while targetman Mark Beck scuffed wide when well placed from Callum Maycock’s ball across the six-yard box.

With the half looking likely to end goalless, Solihull took the lead in the 42nd minute.

Mitchell Roberts’ free-kick came back out to the edge of the box and Osborne’s first-time strike went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Dallas poked wide from Justin Donawa’s pass and Roberts’ 25-yard effort struck the stanchion as Solihull twice went close in the opening minutes of the second half.

Sha'mar Lawson flashed a deflected effort wide for Maidstone before Walters, a half-time substitute for Berkoe, fired well over from distance.

Sbarra, having stoked the ball inches wide after Dallas led a Solihull counter-attack, took his next chance as Solihull doubled their lead.

The goal came in the 76th minute with the Moors midfielder finishing off the inside of the post.

Barden denied Beck and kept out Dallas’ follow-up as Solihull threatened to put the game to bed.

Deacon had the ball in the net in the last couple of minutes but the linesman's flag went up for offside.
