Kent golfers Tom Sherreard (Chart Hills) and Matt Haines (Rochester & Cobham) have been included in an initial 28-man Great Britain & Ireland squad for this year's Walker Cup.

The final team of 10 players to face the USA at Merion Golf Club, Pennsylvania, on September 12-13, will be selected in August.

Haines enjoyed a run of top amateur victories last year while Sherreard finished the second-placed amateur and 19th overall at the 2008 Open Championship.
