Kent FA launch walking football league to build on success of 50+ and 60+ cup competitions

Walking football will get hyper competitive this weekend with the launch of the Kent FA Walking Football League.

The recently-held Walking Football 50+ and 60+ Cups, both of which were won by Woodnesborough, saw 23 teams in action, and proved so popular teams can now battle it out on a regular basis, with the big kick-off on Sunday.

The league will consist of 10 sides in the 50+ division and 13 teams in the 60+ division. Both divisions will be split into East Kent and West Kent Conferences.

The teams in the same conference will play each other three times each followed by the play-offs. The team that comes out on top after the play-offs will be awarded the inaugural Kent FA Walking Football League trophy.

Kent FA chief executive Darryl Haden said: “We are thrilled to be part of the first-ever Kent FA Walking Football League. This is a great milestone for the sport locally and for the Kent FA to be offering this provision."

If you are interested in playing walking football either competitively or recreationally, there are sessions all over the county. To find out more, visit kentfa.com or email the Kent FA's football services assistant, Harry Burgess, on Harry.Burgess@kentfa.com
