An announcement on Hakan Hayrettin’s Maidstone future could be imminent.

Co-owner Terry Casey revealed last week negotiations over a new 18-month contract were at an advanced stage.

And, speaking after Saturday’s 5-1 win at Concord, Hayrettin spoke of his commitment to the club.

“If you’re happy going to work, that counts for a lot,” said the Stones boss.

“I’m happy where I am, I’ve got a great relationship with Terry Casey and Bill Williams.

“I don’t see Oliver Ash but I speak to him quite a lot, so I’m sure there’s going to be no issues and no problems.

“We are probably one of the best-supported clubs outside the Football League, not just the National League.

“These supporters have tasted Football League and National League and they want that again.

“Our job is to take them as far as we can and that’s what we intend to do.”

Hayrettin has led Maidstone to second place in National South on the back of an 11-match unbeaten run, with his popularity at an all-time high with supporters.

It hasn’t always been that way, a conversation the manager had at Concord when his contract situation was brought up before the game.

He said: “I reminded the supporters when they asked me, it wasn’t long ago that some of you turned quicker than milk, and that could happen again.

“Are you going to be loyal or are you going to be turning?

“I understand support is support but we’re a work in progress and the majority of supporters, 95 per cent, have been brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

“Someone said to me, ‘You could be a legend here if you stay for many years’ but it’s not about me.

“Those pictures of the team that got promoted that are up at the ground, I want these boys we’ve got now to be up on the wall.

“I’m just a part of what they’re doing, I’m just the figurehead.”
