Disastrous defeat for Stones

Maidstone 1 Heybridge Swifts 2

Maidstone face a huge final day clash against Kent rivals Folkestone after two late goals condemned them to a 2-1 home defeat to Heybridge Swifts in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday.

The Stones took the lead after just seven minutes when Jacob Erskine controlled Ian Selley's free kick on his chest before volleying home from 10 yards.

United had a decent penalty claim turned down before half-time when Alex Tiesse went down in the box.

But the visitors improved after the break and levelled on 74 minutes when Stafford Browne was left unmarked to head home from a corner.

And the winner came six minutes from time when Lee Devaux met another corner with a powerful header.

Heybridge Swifts boss Brian Statham and Stones join manager Lloyd Hume were both dismissed from the dugout after a second half altercation.
