MORE than 500 of Kent's finest endurance runners converged at the Detling Showground on Saturday to compete for trophies and medals in the county cross-country championships.

Mike Coleman retained his senior men's trophy and led Medway & Maidstone to double team success at six to score and 12 to score categories.

Bryony Proctor (Blackheath & Bromley) was the new name on the individual trophy in the senior women's race.

There was a surprise team victory for Folkestone Running Club.

Tonbridge were denied a clean sweep of all the male young atheltes' team awards by Invicta East Kent's under-13 athletes.

And Tonbridge won all the available female team awards to emphasise their dominance this winter.
