Maidstone United could be without on-loan Bournemouth defender Jake McCarthy at York

On-loan Bournemouth defender Jake McCarthy may have to wait a bit longer for his Maidstone debut.

The Cherries still have concerns over McCarthy's ankle, which could rule him out of United's National League relegation scrap at York on Saturday.

Stones boss Jay Saunders said: "Bournemouth are umming and aahing over his ankle.

"Jake feels fine but Bournemouth are being cautious.

"They want him to have a full week's training on it first, which I get because he's their player and they want him to be right."

Maidstone are staying overnight in York before the game.

They'll be stopping off to use Doncaster Rovers' training ground.

Saunders said: "It'll give us an hour or so to go through a few things.

"It breaks up the day a little bit, otherwise you're spending all day on on the coach and then you're in the hotel all night.

"If we're going through stuff on York, it will all be fresh in the players' minds for Saturday too."
