ROYSTON: runner-up in the Tonbridge player-of-the-year award for the past two seasons

RYAN Royston is the latest player to join the exodus from Tonbridge Angels to Maidstone United.

Royston's long-rumoured move to Maidstone was confirmed today. The 6ft 3in central defender was seen at the Stones' final game of the 2003/2004 season and as expected he decided to rejoin his former team-mate, the new Maidstone manager Lloyd Hume.

The 21-year-old has been runner-up in the Tonbridge player-of-the-year award for the past two seasons. His move comes 24 hours after Maidstone captured the services of former Tonbridge duo Peter Overton and Nicky Barnes.

Maidstone will play at Tonbridge in what is now sure to be a hotly-contested "friendly" on August 7.
