New signing Anthony O'Connor helps Sittingbourne go seventh in Ryman League Division 1 South

New signing Anthony O’Connor is the perfect fit for in-form Sittingbourne.

Striker O’Connor scored on his debut after joining from Folkestone as Brickies shocked Hythe 4-0 on Saturday.

He impressed again as Nick Davis' side won 2-1 at Ramsgate on Tuesday night to go seventh in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Boss Davis had been looking for a forward since losing Miles Cornwell - to Folkestone - last month.

He said: “Anthony’s fitted in brilliantly.

"He’s not played a lot of football in the last three-and-a-half weeks but he scored three goals in the five games he played for Folkestone and is a real handful.

“He’s got lightning pace, makes clever runs and comes into our league a little unknown, which is good.

“He just fits the ethic of our team and the way we play.

“We’re a side that’s built around counter-attacking at pace and he offers that in abundance."

Sittingbourne are out to make up for two away defeats when they host East Grinstead on Saturday (3pm) and Kent rivals Herne Bay (7.45pm) on Tuesday night.

They lost 2-0 at East Grinstead last month and 3-0 at Herne Bay three weeks ago.
