Woman taken to Maidstone hospital after huge emergency service response in Ashford Road, Bearsted

A woman is in hospital after police and paramedics scrambled to a medical emergency on a busy road.

Several ambulances and police cars attended the scene on Ashford Road, Bearsted at around 2.15pm this afternoon.

In all, around 10 vehicles were sent out.

A resident said they saw a person being brought out of an alleyway on a stretcher before being put in an ambulance.

A Kent Police spokesman said they sent such a large number of vehicles because they were concerned a woman had been assaulted or died, but arrived at the scene to find nothing suspicious and handed over to paramedics.

A SECAmb spokesperson said: "We were called to a path off Ashford Road in Bearstead at around 1.40pm to concerns for the welfare of a person that been found.

"We sent ambulance crews including our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) One female patient was treated at the scene and has since been taken to Maidstone Hospital."

All the vehicles had left the scene by 3.45pm.
