Update: Bike victim was 48-year-old Rochester man

A 48-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a crash with a lorry on the A228 at Snodland is from the Rochester area, police have confirmed.

His pillion passenger, also from the area and aged 40, is now in a stable condition at King's College hospital in London.

People at the scene have told of frantic effort to save the rider's life and to tend to his badly-injured passenger.

Police closed the road at the Ham Hill roundabout and Rockford Road after crash at 11:40am on Friday, which involved a Dutch-registered lorry.

The driver of the lorry was unharmed.

A spokesman for the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "The motorcyclist was traveling from Rochester towards the M20 and the lorry was turning when the collision happened.

"We are still seeking witnesses who saw the incident to come forward."
