“You can do it!” – that was the theme of an inspirational talk given to a group of Maidstone school pupils planning to compete in their first triathlon at Hever Castle this month.

It was delivered by Elizabeth Brama, triathlete and Iron Man champion, who followed it by leading a short training session.

About 46 pupils from Maplesden Noakes are set to enter the event on September 29.

Each will complete the event by themselves or be part of a relay team, either swimming 200m, cycling 5k, or running 4k through the castle’s grounds.

Maplesden Noakes teacher Tina Hamer said: “We were looking for a new challenge, something that would set us apart from other school house groups, and one that represents a huge achievement. When we saw the Hever Castle Triathlon promoted we knew we had found what we were looking for.”
