A group of travellers has reportedly set up camp in a Maidstone car park.

An encampment of two caravans set up at the London Road Retail Park yesterday and a further two joined them this afternoon.

Councils have a responsibility to issue enforcement notices if travellers illegally camp on authority-owned land.

With private land however, it is up to the landowner.

Police have been informed and the landowners are aware of the situation.
