Trains are being diverted to run via Tonbridge, but services from London towards Ashford are not affected.

The train operators issued statements on social media advising customers: “If your train from Ashford is diverted, it will stop at Paddock Wood for connections to Maidstone Barracks which is a short walk from Maidstone East. From there you can continue your journey to stations on the Maidstone East line

“Maidstone East to Charing Cross services will stop at all stations between Maidstone and Otford. If you travel on these services to Charing Cross, you can use London Underground at no extra cost between Charing Cross, and London Victoria.”

A replacement bus service was due to leave Ashford and call at all stations to Maidstone East.

The problem began just after 7pm and was expected to be resovled by 9.30pm.
