Tonbridge boss Tommy Warrilow says sought-after striker Frannie Collin could have been in line for international recognition had he not suffered an injury in training last week.

Collin (pictured) sat out the dramatic 3-2 win over Thurrock at Longmead last Saturday after turning an ankle in training two days earlier but should be back for Saturday's visit of Staines.

Warrilow believes his 13-goal marksman would have been in line for a call from the England C selectors had he not picked up the knock, as Welling’s Andy Pugh - who also tops the Blue Square Bet South scoring charts with 13 - was put on standby for the squad.

Warrilow said: "I was gutted for Frannie because if he’d not turned his ankle I reckon he’d have had at least a hat-trick on Saturday.

"I am thrilled for Pughy, but you have to think if Frannie had been fit he’d have been in with a chance."

The win against Thurrock took Angels into 11th in the Blue Square Bet South table and victory against struggling Staines could put them into the top eight, although a defeat could see them drop as low as 17th.

Warrilow said: "We can’t turn up with the mentality that they are struggling and there for the taking because we’ll come unstuck."
