Tommy Warrilow is waiting to hear the extent of an injury sustained by Scott Gooding – just back from a long-term knee problem – picked up early in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Hendon.

Gooding’s injury soured a good night for Tonbridge as they went up to sixth in the Ryman League Premier Division after their third win in a row.

Angels boss Warrilow, pictured, said: "Scott went to turn and his studs got caught in the turf – they went on and scored from it.

"It was sore and painful. We are hoping it is not a recurrence of his injury but we’ll have to wait for him to see a specialist. He’ll be out for the next couple of games, though."

After the visitors opened the scoring on nine minutes, Ade Olorunda levelled shortly before the half-hour and Frannie Collin sealed the points from the spot 16 minutes from time.

Warrilow said it was important that his side get over their habit of starting slowly if they are to stay in the promotion mix.

He said: "After such a long break, I guess it is to be expected but we have only played well in halves so far. What is important for us is to work on extending that to 90 minutes.

"We were slow to get going at Bury but we deserved to win because we were brilliant in the second half. We’ll be discussing how we can pick up momentum from the start."

Angels will look to move into the play-off places with the visit of Billericay to Longmead tomorrow (Saturday) and a trip to Wealdstone on Monday.
