Tonbridge Angels manager Tommy Warrilow admits he was "fuming" over the late postponement of Tuesday’s league game at Staines.

The Middlesex club left it until 4.15pm before making an inspection of their Wheatsheaf Park pitch, by which time some of the Angels squad had already set off.

Warrilow (pictured) said: "I was just about to leave home myself and I can’t understand why Staines couldn’t have arranged an inspection in the morning, because it was obvious there was little chance of the game going ahead.

"I was fuming because it makes it so difficult for the players when they have to take time off work."

The Staines postponement means Angels haven’t played a league game for three weeks. They are due to play Eastleigh away on Saturday and Warrilow drew encouragement over the chances of the game going ahead from the fact the Hampshire club managed to play on Tuesday night, beating Havant & Waterlooville 3-2 at home to move into 10th place in Blue Square Bet South.

If the Eastleigh game does go ahead new signing Rory Hill is likely to feature in the squad for the first time. Hill, who had a spell at Tonbridge last season, has returned to the club from Bromley and Warrilow said: "Rory’s signing now gives us plenty of options in midfield and up top. This will allow our injured forwards time to recover properly."

Apart from easing Jon Main slowly back into action, Warrilow is likely to be without fellow striker Ade Olorunda for several weeks.

Olorunda aggravated a knee problem in the 4-2 Kent Senior Cup defeat by Dartford and the decision has now been made that he needs an operation.

Warrilow said: "It had only been hurting the day after games so we asked him to put the operation off. But Ade only lasted half a game against Dartford so now we’ve decided it would be best if he gets it done as soon as possible."
