Skating festival returns to Maidstone

Skaterboarders and bikers will grind along the half-pipe to Maidstone's annual Uprockin' festival.

Enthusiasts can show off their skills at the one-day celebrations in South Park, off Armstrong Road, on Saturday, July 6.

People can enter the various contests, which will run between noon and 6pm, or leave the wheelie challenges to the daredevils and browse the various stalls instead. There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting and a BBQ.

The free fair has been organised by Maidstone council for 13 years, with support from Golding Homes, Lovenskate, Rubicon, Ramp, Revolutions, The Source Bar, MidKent College and Bob Prowse gym.

Cabinet Member for Community and Leisure Services, Cllr John A. Wilson, said: “Uprockin’ is always a fantastic day for all the family, and I can’t wait to see what tricks the competitors will have to show off this year – judging by previous years, the competition will be fierce, and a great show for everyone watching."
