THE family of a young father who died in a tragic accident while working on a new shopping centre are to remember him with a plaque.

The memorial to Justin Taylor, a machine driver who was killed during construction work at the Fremlin Walk shopping centre, Maidstone, will be placed in St Faith’s Square next week.

It is hoped an unveiling ceremony for the plaque in memory of the 29-year-old father-of-two from Melford Drive, Barming, near Maidstone, will take place at a later date.

Centros Miller, the Fremlin Walk developer, agreed to pay for the plaque and put it up after a request from Sara-Jane Allman, who is married to Mr Taylor’s cousin, Dean Allman.

Mrs Allman, 24, of Leicester Road, Shepway, Maidstone, said: It just says 'In Loving Memory of Justin’.

“It’s a lovely place to go and shop but I wanted people to take a moment and remember that somebody lost their life. Justin was always so full of life. He was a lovely bloke.”

Dean Allman said: “It all boils down to the recognition thing. It’s a sign of respect.”

Steve Bryson, spokesman for Centros Miller, said: “We have huge sympathy with the family and we are keen to go along with their wishes to commemorate his life with the plaque on the site as a permanent memento.”
