Lenham: Robbery suspect charged after recycling centre staff 'threatened with hammer'

A robbery suspect has been charged over the theft of scrap metal from a recycling centre after staff member was "threatened with a hammer"..

At around 1.20pm on Thursday 31 May 2018 a van entered the grounds of Countrystyle Recycling in Ashford Road, Lenham.

It is reported two men began loading scrap metal from the site and into the rear of the vehicle, without permission.

After a member of staff challenged the men it is alleged one of them threatened him with a hammer, before the suspects drove from the scene.

On Monday, June 4, Calum Osbourne was arrested in Frittenden Road, Staplehurst. Aged 27 and of Southend Crescent, Eltham, he was subsequently charged with robbery, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and with obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 6.

Officers also arrested Sam O’Shea, aged 26 and of Almondsbury Road, Portsmouth. He was charged with obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty and bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on June 22.
