Two Met Office weather warnings in place for Kent with rain and thunderstorms ahead

Weather warnings have been issued with rain and thunderstorms expected to sweep the county today.

Forecasters say slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to disruption across Kent due to flooding from midday today.

The Met Office warns there is a chance homes and businesses could be deluged and say fast-flowing or deep floodwater could pose a danger to life

If flooding does occur there could be delays and cancellations to train and bus services, with the additional risk of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions on the county's roads.

A separate warning for localised heavy rain in the north of the county is also in place until midday.

Yesterday thunder and lightning were seen and heard in Kent.

Southeastern rail services were also disrupted when heavy rain flooded the line in Lenham.

The weather warnings come after much of the south east basked under blue skies at the start of the week.

It's likely to cause disruption on the roads today, which are already struggling after a lorry overturned on the M20 this morning.
