There were laughs and there were tears as the great, the good and those who have made a difference were honoured at the Pride of Maidstone Awards.
The ceremony at the town hall in Maidstone honoured award winners both young and old, and from all walks of life.
Our nominations for the 2010 awards – which had been rescheduled from December due to heavy snow – were launched back in October with the nomination of former Battle of Britain pilot Jimmy Corbin, now in his 90s.
Mr Corbin, a former RAF Sgt, flew every mark of Spitfire and even had his initials put on the side of one. He is one of the declining number of survivors dubbed by Churchill as 'the Few’.
