Pothole repairs along Old Loose Hill delayed after “short notice” over road closures

Repairs to dozens of potholes have been delayed after people were given too little notice of road closures.

Kent County Council (KCC) made the decision to postpone the works along Old Loose Hill in Loose, which were supposed to take place yesterday (Monday, October 2) and today.

Last Thursday (September 28), Loose Parish Council issued a notice advising residents and motorists that the road will be closed for repairs.

Thirty-two potholes were scheduled to be filled in yesterday and today.

It went on to say: “This is a positive thing but the downside is that Old Loose Hill will be shut from the Post Office to Rosemount Close from 9am to 3.30pm on both days.

“Access to Highbanks should not be affected from the Rosemount end of Old Loose Hill.

“Please make sure that cars are not parked down the Old Loose Hill as the workman will not be able to carry out the repairs.

“If you have any concerns please speak to the gang on site.”

An alternative route for drivers would be via the A229 Linton Road.

Old Loose Hill is regularly used to access a number of homes, as well as The Chequers pub.

But the day after the parish council’s post on Facebook it posted another, stating that KCC had “reevaluated” the closure, which had now been postponed.

They said it was due to “short notice” of the closure, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

It is planned that the works will be carried out during October half-term, although this has not yet been confirmed.
