Maidstone: Kent Police investigate burglary of firearms and medals from property in Morry Lane, East Sutton

Police are investigating a reported burglary which saw firearms and medals stolen.

The incident is thought to have occurred between 9.45am and 3.30pm last Wednesday, October 26.

A property in Morry Lane, East Sutton, was targeted, and it is believed that a cabinet containing six shotguns was taken.

It is also reported that medals, including the Star of Burma war medal, which was given to citizens of the Commonwealth who served in the Second World War, as well as an MBE, were taken.

Detective Constable Suzanne Basford, the investigating officer for this case, said: "This burglary took place during daylight hours and I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and believes they saw anything suspicious.

"I would also encourage members of the public to be vigilant and contact us if they believe they have been offered any of these items for sale. We believe that the MBE was awarded in 1953 and this date was engraved on it."
