A 43-year-old accused of a Tunbridge Wells burglary has been charged with three other offences

A 43-year-old man has been charged and remanded in custody on suspicion of four burglaries in Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells.

Turkay Hassan, from Brook Close in Crowborough, East Sussex, is accused of carrying out a burglary with intent to steal at a flat in Mount Pleasant Road in Tunbridge Wells on Tuesday, October 8. The victim had been at home at the time and reported damage to his door frame and lock, although nothing was taken.

Kent Police officers investigated the break-in, which was later linked to three other offences in the Crowborough area. They included a shopping trolley, laptop and jewellery worth £500 taken from Western Road on Thursday, October 10; and more than £5,000 of electrical goods and jewellery stolen from addresses in Coopers Lane and Crowborough High Street on Friday, October 18.

On Monday, October 21, Hassan was arrested by officers from Sussex Police on suspicion of burglary and charged with the four offences. He has since been remanded in custody to appear before Lewes Crown Court on Thursday, November 14.
