Police dog Cliff helps to capture two suspects in a field near Maidstone

A police dog has helped officers capture two teens suspected of theft.

The pair, both from London and wanted in connection with theft and driving offences, were apprehended in a field near Maidstone yesterday.

Officers began their hunt after a suspicious vehicle, reported to have been driven down Blue Bell Hill in the wrong direction, failed to stop when signalled to at around 12.15am

The subsequent search saw PD Cliff, along with his human handlers, track down the pair who were believed to have been in the car before in was abandoned near Rochester Road.

It was later established that the car had been stolen.

The suspects, aged 17 and 19 and both from Abbey Wood, London, were arrested on suspicion of offences including theft, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

Both have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
