Three teens arrested as police stop car with stinger during Maidstone chase

A suspected stolen car was brought to a halt after police threw a stinger across the road during a chase.

Officers on patrol in Maidstone became suspicious of a vehicle being driven in Wat Tyler Way at around 12.30am today.

They discovered the car, a Vauxhall Vectra, had been reported stolen from a burglary in Kimberley Road, Gillingham.

When it failed to stop a pursuit was authorised, which came to an end in Royal Engineers Way in Maidstone after the stinger deflated the vehicle’s tyres and brought it to a stop.

An 18-year-old from Gravesend, a 19-year-old from Orpington and a 17-year-old boy from Strood were arrested and are all in police custody while police continue their investigation.
