30mph limit in East Farleigh will make school run safer

Motorists will have to drive more slowly when village speed limits are reduced

Kent Highways is planning to extend the 30mph zone in East Farleigh, just outside Maidstone, along four roads.

They are at: Forge Lane, from its junction with Vicarage Lane for a distance of 150 metres in an easterly direction; Gallants Lane from its junction with Wilsons Lane to its junction with Heath Road; at Vicarage Lane – which is already partly speed-restricted – for its entire length; and also Wilson’s Lane for its entire length.

Apart from Vicarage Lane, the roads are currently unrestricted.

The consequence will be to make the whole route from Heath Road through to Lower Road a 30mph limit.

The road is the route taken by many parents dropping off at East Farleigh Primary School.

The public can give their views on this proposal via this web-link.

The deadline for responses is noon on October 2.
