A man on crutches has been stabbed near the eye with what is believed to have been a needle on Tunbridge Wells Common.

The 50-year-old victim suffered a two-inch cut under his right eye when he was assaulted by a man on a footpath.

The man, from the town, was walking his dog when it happened near Hungershall Park in the direction of the car park at the bottom of Major Yorks Road.

His attacker became abusive when he asked him and another man who were blocking the way to move.

DC Abi Kolbe, from Tonbridge police station, said: "He asked them to move and one of the males has reportedly become verbally abusive and lashed out towards the victim's face with what the victim believes to be a needle.

"The victim received a two-inch cut under his right eye and the two males have apparently then run off in the direction of Hungershall Park."

The attacker is described as white, 6ft 2ins, of stocky or medium build and aged between 25 and 30.

He is said to have had short dark hair and a few days of stubble while wearing a dity-looking dark coat and jeans.

DS Kolbe added: "Any physical attack is a serious offence, but one in which a needle is reportedly used as a weapon is particularly concerning for the associated health reasons.

"The victim has attended hospital and received a tetanus jab and is undergoing further precautionary medical tests."

The attack happened at about 11am on Thursday, November 14.
