Moped rider taken to hospital by helicopter after crash in Lidsing Road, Maidstone

A moped rider has been airlifted to hospital following a serious accident involving a van.

The accident happened at around 8am in Lidsing Road, Maidstone.

Police and paramedics attended and the Kent, Surrey, Sussex Air Ambulance Service was also called to the scene.

The moped rider was treated on the ground before being airlifted to King's College Hospital in London.

His injuries are unknown but police described them as not life threatening.

The road was closed and a diversion put in place while emergency services attended.
