Maplesden Noakes School, Maidstone

BEST dresses, bibs and tuckers, and a sit-down meal marked the end of a year group's time together.

Students from Maplesden Noakes School, Buckland Road, Maidstone, held an end of school prom to mark the end of their schooldays and the start of further education or the daunting world of work.

Girls put on the glamour and wore their best frocks to the event, held at the Salomon Centre, Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells.

The lads donned smart suits and bow ties. Some groups hired stretch limousines to arrive at the ball in style.

The event is held for leaving sixth formers every year and this year was organised by a prom committee of three students.

Committee member, Sam Hardy, 18, who is going on to study history at Nottingham University, said: "We all had a great time but it was quite emotional.

"It's the last time we are all going to see each other as a sixth form community and not just individual friendship groups."

Head girl Lydia Wood and assistant head teacher, David Cossey, gave speeches towards the end of the night wishing all of the pupils the very best of luck.
