Man in river fall tragedy is named

A HOMELESS man who died when he fell into the River Medway at Maidstone last weekend has been named by Kent Police.

He was Andrew McGoldrick, 66, who was sleeping rough in a boat moored near Fairmeadow with the permission of the owner.

He had been attempting to cross between boats when he slipped into the icy water on Sunday.People on surrounding craft pulled Mr McGoldrick out of the river but died soon afterwards.
