M20 crash victim able to walk to ambulance after rescue

A man has been freed from wreckage following a two-car crash on the M20 last night.

The accident happened at 6.40pm on the coastbound section of the motorway between Junctions 8 (Leeds) and 9 (Ashford).

Fire crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the door of a car involved, which had travelled up the motorway embankment.

After the firefighters made space to extract him, the man was able to walk to a waiting ambulance.

Emergency crews initially closed two lanes of the motorway while dealing with the incident, later reduced to one lane. But there were long delays for other motorists.

The incident was cleared about an hour later.
