Mereworth: Firefighters free trapped man after car hits tree in Tonbridge Road

A man is in a serious condition after a serious crash near a Mereworth beauty spot.

The accident happened when a Range Rover collided with a Ford Fiesta which was turning into the grounds of the Grade I listed Mereworth Castle off Tonbridge Road just after 11pm last night.

The Range Rover then hit a tree and the driver, who is in his 20s was cut free by firefighters and taken to a London hospital.

Officers from Kent Police's serious crash investigation unit are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the vehicles immediately before or at the time of the collision.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen an Audi overtake the Fiesta, just before the incident.
