Man arrested after attempted off-licence robbery

A MAN has been arrested following an attempted robbery at a Kent off licence.

The incident occurred when a man entered Plonkers Wine Merchants on Loose Road, Maidstone, at about 2.10pm on Tuesday and took a bottle of Bucks Fizz to the till.

When the female owner rang it through, the man said he hadn’t got any money and walked round the other side of the till and attempted to open it.

The owner wrestled with the man to try and get the till back from his grasp, and shouted for help.

The owner’s husband came to her aid and pushed the assailant to the door, and he ran off down Loose Road.

A man was later arrested by police in connection with the crime.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police in Mid Kent on 01622 690055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
