A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of having an imitation firearm and making threats to kill following an incident in Maidstone today.

Police spent several hours talking to the man at a house on Kingsley Road before he gave himself up peacefully.

They were called to the address at 11:30am after a reported dispute.

They closed Waterloo Street and placed a cordon on Kingsley Road and residents were asked to remain inside their homes.

The roads have now re-opened.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) will patrol the area this evening and speak to residents to reassure them, stressing that this was an isolated incident.
